Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister

I listened to this as an audiobook. It’s a fiction novel rather than a thriller and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The book is about Simon, who walks out on Catherine and their children. She’s convinced that something terrible has happened to him, but we quickly realise this isn’t the case as the story is narrated from both of their perspectives. We follow Simon’s journey over the next twenty-five years until eventually, he reappears in Catherine’s life. He most certainly isn’t the man she thought she had married.

This is a great page-turner, wonderfully characterised and a compelling read, featuring a strong woman and a fundamentally flawed man. This new version features a bonus chapter which wraps up the story really well.
