The Psychiatrist is a cleverly plotted psychological thriller, featuring two timelines that come together with a bang mid book. It features Dr Geddes, a young psychiatrist, who seems to be led astray by a troubled patient, as well as Lorna, mother to teenage Amy. The book explores the extent to which a mother will go to protect her child, as well as how the relationship between two families can disintegrate with horrible consequences. There are plenty of dubious characters, big twists, layer upon layer of lies and exquisitely tense moments. Another great book by one of my favourite authors.
