Merri and Dev are down on their luck, struggling to make ends meet. And when they win a fabulous house along with a lump sum of cash, it seems all their problems might be solved. Except we learn early on that Merri has a past she hasn’t shared with Dev and that the publicity around their win is potentially hugely problematic. Set in the Lake District, this is a highly atmospheric psychological thriller, with an anonymous POV from someone called The Watcher. It’s a slow-burn to begin with but quickly ramps up with all the twists and turns we expect from Slater.
