Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister

Although this is billed as a psychological thriller, in my opinion it’s not – it’s a whodunnit police procedural. Perhaps that’s semantics, because either way, it’s a fabulous book. I’m a huge fan of Shari Lapena who writes page turners with such realism you’re immediately engrossed in the story.

When Bryden fails to collect her three-year-old from day care, we meet all the key characters in her life, including her husband Sam, her best friend, her true-crime loving sister and parents. And then there’s the handsome but dodgy Tesla Man who she accidentally rear-ended. Her disappearance soon becomes a murder investigation. Set over a few days, the story is narrated from multiple points of view. I listened to it as an audiobook and found it completely engrossing. Thoroughly recommend!
